Final Few Weeks

There’s lots of fun coming up these next few weeks as the year winds down.  First off:

  • Cafe Alva has moved!  Our new stage location is at the First Congregational Church.  on the corner of 24th and Harris, right next door to University Park. There is free parking in the lot and plenty of free parking on nearby streets. Please enter the building through the main entrance on the south side.

You don’t want to miss this fabulous event!

Needs:   * juice and cookie donations for intermission by May 21st; * set-up and serve refreshments during Cafe Alva intermission.  Contact Theresa Elmore if you can help or just bring your donations to the Edison Office.

  • Field Day
Our wonderful PE teacher, Rachel Farkas, is planning a fun-filled afternoon of activities for the kids on Monday, June 11th. The kids will rotate through ten different stations with the theme of “Passport to the World.” It’s going to be an action-packed afternoon! We’ll need plenty of volunteers, so stay tuned for that request soon.

Needs:  One volunteer with a large cooler is needed to pick up popsicles and dry ice the morning of Monday, June 11th for the school Field Day that afternoon. Please contact Paula Williams if you can help.

  • Orientation for the 2012-13 School YearMonday, June 4th, we will have an early recess, with everyone returning to the building at 10:00.  At that time, all of the students except 5th will go to a classroom at their next grade level. (5th grade will have an extended P.E. Class.)  Both classes at that grade level will be in one room with the two teachers giving a presentation and answering some questions.  At around 10:20, all of the groups will move to the second classroom at their grade level in order to get a look at both rooms. Students will return to their regular rooms at 10:30.
  • Principal Update
Hope to know more mid-this week.  Two candidates have met with Shelly and then we should know more soon.
  •  Volunteer Appreciation Coffee
in the library on Monday, June 4th from 1:30 till 2:45.  Please try to join us and let us provide a small “thank you” for the enormous gift you bring to Edison.
